Interview With Jane C Woods

Womankind is an international human rights charity, protecting the interests of woman in Africa, Asia and Latin America, trying to bring them equality – challenging discrimination and violence.

Recently Newsnibbles caught up with Personal Development Specialist, Jane C Woods to talk to her about her involvement with the

charity.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

Hi and thanks for asking! I work primarily (but not exclusively) with women to help them achieve to their full potential.  I do this via courses, and one to one working ( I hate the term ‘coach’ – it covers a multitude of sins and includes some not very qualified folk!).  I also work in house, in organisations on change, and have bespoke courses for addressing gender imbalance by encouraging more women into management roles.

How did you become involved in WomanKind?

I wanted to support a charity through my work and the ethos of Womankind immediately appealed to me.  It’s very much an organisation that seeks to empower women to help women themselves.  It’s an international women’s human rights charity that helps those women who are speaking out about the violation of women’s rights, helping those voices to get heard and to make changes.  It’s very respectful of cultures, not imposing its own idea of what is right and wrong. That also chimes well with me.

What is your book about?

The book came out of my one to one work.  I wrote it for those folk who know they don’t like what they are doing (at work) but don’t really know what they want to do to do instead. It’s part work book with exercises, part confidence builder, and part inspiration with stories from other women who have had varied career paths.

How can people get involved with supporting WomanKind?

Just go to the website and sign up! www.womankind.org.uk  You can choose your level of involvement from simply spreading the word, to lobbing them a few quid now and again, to joining or starting a local group!  Because my work is so variable I have chosen to donate 10% of all sales revenue from my web site.  And until the end of December I am giving all the revenue from books sales to them.  So my grateful thanks to you for allowing me to share this with your readers! And Happy Christmas! (Or Happy whatever you like to celebrate)

We felt it would be inappropriate to ask Jane her favourite Newsnibbles story on the back of such a serious topic.  However, if you are overly curious, or just want to find out more about her and the work she does you can Tweet @JaneCWoods or visit http://www.changingpeople.co.uk/
