What?
No, no – this is nothing to do with advent, in fact the headline should read “School Advert Typo” – we were making an appropriately
festive pun – we sometimes do whacky things like that.
So, this week the random news generator, otherwise known as Chimp the Obscure came up with this little gem for us. An advert published in the Tacoma News Tribune was supposed to ask readers if they were interested in Public Charter Schools, but the advert missed out the “L” in public – awkward.
Before we realised this story basically revolved around a typo, we found ourselves wondering what a pubic charter school would teach, perhaps how to keep a well groomed down below, it doesn’t really bear thinking about…
Once we discovered it was a typo we really felt for them, after all it can happen to the best of us. Once on Twitter, Badger wanted to tweet that she enjoyed eating “veggies”, unfortunately a scandalous vowel switch occurred at the beginning of the word, which gave the tweet an alternative, rather inappropriate meaning. After spotting it is was removed, and the error rectified. So basically we are reassuring the makers of the advert that things could have been much, MUCH worse.
One of our twitter followers told us that once she emailed a colleague to inform them that she had locked something away, but accidentally said “licked” – which could have been awkward.
We put to the fans the question of whether they had ever made a silly typo. The whole thing descended into anarchy, if you want to see then go to the page and look!
