More Girly Science News!

Well, if you are a regular Nibbler you may recall that we reported on a video created by the EU Commission in an attempt to get girls

Here is Pat’s pink badge, again, if there is enough interest shown there could be t-shirts… no promises though…

interested in science.  If you didn’t view it at the time, sadly it is too late now, as the video has been removed (we can’t think why) so if you did not see it at the time then sadly you have missed out on the fabulous pink sparkliness of it all.

Fear not though, Nibblers, all is not lost.  A group of psychologists from Bristol have made a fantastic parody of it.  Whilst it lacks the sparkly pinkiness that drew us to the original video, this has some serious Laugh Out Loud moments, and here in the Newsnibbles office we did some proper LOLs.

According to the Youtube page for this fabulous flick the original in all it’s fabulous pink glory cost a whopping £80,000 – whereas this splendid parody cost a mere £7.66.  This just goes to show you the cost of pink sparkle.

Our resident Scientist and friend of Newsnibbles, Dr Ellen Lamborn, BSc, PhD told us:

“I never took to science cos of pink, nor mascara.  But I did like the pretty flowers…”

Check out the fantastic vid below, and if you saw the original, we would love to know which one would inspire you to take up a career in science more…
