7 Questions

Today’s 7 Questions is with actress and voice performer Margaret Ashley.  Badger has been lucky enough to have Margaret narrate a short story, A Blessing in Disguise, so we thought we’d catch up to find out what else she’s been up to.

1. Where might we have seen or heard of you before?

I have been around a long time and done lots of things, such as appearing in TV series, Coronation Street, The Bill, London’s Burning.

2. What is it about audiobooks/voiceover work that appeals to you?

I have always loved stories and Radio. Both allow you to paint your own pictures in your head. I love reading and always read to my children, it is a great thing to be able to lose yourself in a book. My house has books in every room. As for voiceover, I love being able to create characters and bring them to life, the voice is an amazing instrument and you can produce so much with it, make people happy, sad, scared, laugh, cry, and even send them to sleep with stories or songs.

3. What would you say your favourite project has been, to date?

Oh that is too difficult to say, generally the one I am working on at the time.

4. How do you feel about pet couture?

As a dog owner I do not dress my dog up, except if they are old and in need of a coat to keep them warm and dry in the rain and snow. I am always astounded when people pay out a lot of money for clothes for animals that do not need or want clothes. They are animals not humans, they don’t need ties, jumpers, hats, wellington boots!

5. What do you think the appeal of audiobooks is? What can they offer that reading can’t?

More or less what I have said above, and of course the great thing today is you can listen on your phone or tablet while you are travelling or doing the housework, anywhere anytime. Can relive the stress of the daily commute, the long journey, etc.

6. Describe your ideal sandwich.

Oooh probably chicken and mayonnaise with salad on wholemeal bread.

7. What’s next for you?

Currently finishing another audiobook, about to do a couple of voices in some games and maybe your next offering?

Well, that’s a definite, and you can listen to the retail sample below, and if it’s sold you, click here to purchase.
