Whose Poo is it Anyway?

In international news this week, a Washington war over excrement has come to our attention.  Feuding neighbours’ disagreement over

the correct place to dump, well, dump made it all the way to a jury trial this week.

According to the Washington Post poo has become quite a contentious issue in North Virginia, with some residents in apartment complexes subscribing to dog DNA testing in an attempt to encourage residents to clear up after their pets.

Unfortunately, in this, most recent case of poo spreading no DNA subscriptions were in place, so the matter was brought before the courts.  Apparently, this incident was the latest in a spate of legal battles between the neighbours, who just cannot seem to get on.

The Poo Accusers went as far as to follow the Poo Accused on her evening walk, with a dog she looks after, and photograph the alleged abandoned poo.  The jury heard how the Poo Accused always carried poo bags on her walks, and never left a poo to fester on the streets.  When confronted with accusations of poo abandonment she claimed it was merely a vendetta against her by the Poo Accusers, who have reported her to the police on several other occasions for different things.

The break in the case came when the dog’s owner took to the stand.  When confronted with the photo of the poo, allegedly produced by her pet she responded that she could not possibly understand how a pet as small as hers (19lbs, which is small apparently) could produce such a vast defecation.  As a result of this star witness testimony, the Poo Accused was acquitted, although she had accrued $1,200 in attorney’s fees, which is substantially more than the $250 fine for not poop scooping.

Perhaps the most disturbing thing about this whole case is that 1,373 people “like” PooPrints which is 1,322 more people than “like” Newsnibbles. What is wrong with the world?

Poo seems to be quite a contentious issue amongst our regular Nibblers, who offered up comments as follows on the subject:

“You should pick up after your dog- it’s a FPN (fixed penalty notice) offence in most places now… £80 is a lot of money for poo!  And if the tree hugging hippy bloke from around the corner allows his dog to pee on my house or doorstep again, I’ll nail his dog to his door as a new door knocker and take the biggest dump on his door step.  I’m watching for you…” – Kris

“I’m with Kris on that one!  I actually posted a present back through an irresponsible dog owning neighbours door; stopped his dog dumping on my lawn!” – Jain

Well poo certainly does stir up mixed emotions.
