Nibblets

We hope you all had a splendid Easter break, complete with eggs and the like.  Here is some random news you may have missed in all the crazy chocolate fun.

Giant Egg Goes to Auction

An egg from an “Elephant Bird” which has been extinct since at least the seventeenth-century is going up for auction at the end of April.  The egg, which is said to be larger than a dinosaur egg is expected to reach an estimated £23,000-£34,000.  This is considerably more expensive than your standard free range egg, and we hope this will put some perspective on the cost of free range eggs, as a happy chicken is worth the extra, and if you can afford £23,000 for an egg you can certainly afford free range.  We hope that the buyer doesn’t want to eat the egg, however, as it is almost certainly past its sell by date.*

Chill, It’s Just a Fire!

A fire in Farmcombe last week was revealed to be on the site of  a cannabis farm.  We suspect the clue for police was the people sitting around the burning trying to roast marshmallows and hugging a lot, rather than fleeing from the blaze.  Residents were then evacuated to a local pub, where we presume they ordered vast quantities of fried
food to recover from their ordeal.

A man on the ground got in touch to tell us that someone at the “scene was reported as saying “chill dude, it’s all like under control man…”  before asking where he could buy some crisps and biscuits and maybe a pizza…” – we don’t know how accurate this report was, as his eyes were very red and he then asked us if we had any cookies…

Dear Tree…

A tree in Brighton that was under threat of the axe has been receiving letters of support from local residents.  Two  campaigners to save the tree, which is being threatened by development plans installed a postbox after the tree received its first two letters.  They are said to be “amazed” by the amount of support the tree is receiving.  We do not know how the tree feels about having fragments of its dead relatives sent to it in support, but we are sure it appreciates the gesture.

Find out more, and write to the tree yourself if you like by reading the full story

*We had a lovely picture to run with the egg Nibblet, but it wouldn’t upload. Annoying.
