Cambridge is claiming to have the shortest double yellow lines in the country on their roads, well someone has to.. The lines in question, which have been the source of so much city pride measure in at a tiny 33cm (just over 1 foot) and are designed to stop people parking too close to disabled parking spaces.  Presumably anyone on rollerskates better not loiter too long either.

Warm Welcome…

When we saw the headline on the BBC Website that “Milton Keynes Welcome Signs [are] Misleading” we presumed it was because travellers didn’t feel particularly welcome.  However, it was in fact because the signs were placed over ten miles away from Milton Keynes – presumably so they can be suitably prepared for the full on welcome they will receive when they eventually make it to the city.  The sign placement seems to have caused some controversy, but we’ve really lost interest so if you want to find out more then click the link.

Mobility help for “damaged” fish…

Some volunteers in Northumberland have built an escalator for fish, who, until recently have been damaging their underbelly swimming in shallow water along concrete, thus falling prey to predictors and not completing their mission to breed.  No more with this new, man made convenience, to help them travel in style.  The concern now is they will never use the stairs again, and this could contribute the growing obesity problem in this country… or not… sometimes we get carried away with our stories…

Anyway, read a full report on the BBC website
