This is a new section to Newsnibbles, where we will be working with our friends at Ammy’s Delight to learn a Dutch saying, and see if it has an equivalent in English. If you are from somewhere else in the world, and it has an equivalent in your language, then please comment on here, Facebook or Twitter to let us know. It’s fun learning what we have in common.
So, this week’s saying is:
Als de kat van huis is, dansen de muizen op tafel
Which translates as:
When the cat’s away, the mice will dance on the tables
And of course, in English it is:
While the cat’s away, the mice will play
What is it in your language?
Same in the US in English. The mice will play version.
