Some rather disturbing news about the existence of mermaids crossed the newsdesk this week. According to a Yahoo news reportthey don’t in
fact exist.
According to the report The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a statement to the effect that there was no evidence supporting the existence of Mermaids. This is due to an increase in enquiries about mermaids since a science fiction documentary aired on Animal Planet which, “paints a wildly convincing picture of the existence of mermaids, what they may look like and why they’ve stayed hidden until now.”
Here at Newsnibbles we prefer to take the view that there is no evidence that they don’t exist either. It is likely that mermaids did not wish to be discovered for fear of being captured and put in zoos. Also, if mermaids do not exist then where did Hans Christian Anderson’s biography of the Little Mermaid come from? Or the Disney documentary of the same name?
Quite frankly no evidence only means that they are good at covering their tracks. The next thing you know they will be denying the existence of Unicorns, and we all know that they’re real.
