A new drinking game that has swept New Zealand in recent years is causing havoc in local parks. “Possum”, as the game has been dubbed by its
participants involved the students sitting in trees, and drinking until the amount of alcohol causes them to crash to the ground in a drunken stupor, fun eh?
Local authorities say that the game is becoming an increasing nuisance as the debris, left by the players, including empty glass bottles, vomit and other bodily fluids, which the park authorities do not enjoy cleaning up, surprisingly.
Concerns are not only for the cleanliness of local parks, but also for the safety of the drinkers, as it is believed that falling drunk from a tree could cause injury. If the drinkers are caught by police they are made to clean up their alcoholic mess, and could face further reprisals.
It is unclear as to whether the recent Marmite crisis which has devastated the country has caused an increase in alcohol consumption, and this is pure supposition on our part.
As a result of this piece of news, we at Newnibbles have chained the interns to the floor to ensure no tree climbing will occur, we don’t need that type of nonsense going on, a damaged intern in no use to anyone.
We asked the fans about their experiences with drinking games.
Jackie said: “I got busted by state park rangers while camping with my church youth group at age 14 for playing “3 Man” with a bottle of vodka in the boys tent. Never had to go to youth group again after that. Couldn’t have asked for a better result. Hated youth group. Loved playing 3 Man.” Three man is a game involving dice, apparently.
Angela said: “My drinking games have ALWAYS gotten me in trouble… that is all.” – it is unclear as to whether she has ever fallen out of a tree.
John said: “Basically played drinking games most of the way through college years. Three man was the one we liked best, but we played others like quarters, beer pong, caps, etc. Had lots of laughs and bonded with a lot of drunken people. Thankfully never got in trouble over any of them, not beyond getting blind drunk and getting sick from time to time.”
