All record breaking attempts have their ups and downs, but in this case they were literal.  Some fire fighters from the Isle of Man have taken the record (previously held by New Zealand) for climbing the greatest distance up a ladder in a twenty-four-hour period.

So how long would this amazing ladder have to be?  Well, apparently they use a fifteen metre ladder and just go up and down a lot.  Still, very impressive.  They managed to beat the record with fifty minutes to spare, and then kept going to make the new record 11,417 climbs in twenty-four-hours.  That’s a whole lot of ladders.

We asked the fans to tell us their interesting ladder experiences.
